University of Colorado at Boulder

CU is a well-rounded university with about 25,000 undergrads and 33% out of state students. The school offers solid academics as well as some of the best parties in the nation. Being nestled right up against the Rocky Mountains, great outdoor activities are endless.

Here is what recent graduates and current students have to say about the University of Colorado at Boulder, including great tips and advice:

Things to know – “The Hill” is the area around the intersection of College St. and Broadway. This is where most of the parties are, there are a bunch of restaurants, and is home to many of CU’s fraternities and sororities.
Use the bus system, it’s free with your RTD sticker. It can take you anywhere; very useful for travel to and from Denver Intl. Airport.
Things to do – Go skiing or snowboarding in Vail.
Hike the Flatirons: go west on Baseline Rd. to get to the trail head.
Use the “Rec. Center” – it has a gym, indoor track, basketball courts, pool and diving boards, climbing wall, racquetball, tennis, and ice rink.
Intramurals: form or join a team (soccer, ice hockey, inner tube water polo, broomball, basketball…).
Best Mexican Food – Quick - Illegal Pete’s, on the Hill. Sit-down - Juanita’s, on Pearl St.
Best Pizza – Cosmos, on the Hill.
Best Sushi – Sushi Zanmai on Spruce St., be sure to order “Z #9 Roll”
What to buy – Buy the sports package during the summer. Even if you aren’t into sports, attending the football games is a major social event.
Buy the ski pass (Colorado Pass). It’s about $315 and gives students access to five different ski resorts. Look for it at Boulder Ski Deals on Arapahoe Ave.
